Words are powerful; they can build up or tear down in an instant. It's true that actions speak louder than words, in the sense that an action will either prove or disprove our words. Even so, we all have the need & desire to hear positive words spoken to us, as they so often feel like life to our souls, such as water is to a flower.
"For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks." Matthew 12:34b
Whenever we let love lead us in what we say to one another, our words will always be edifying, even if the words are those of correction. Correction from a heart of love, (truly 'love' and not merely hiding beneath the facade of 'love' in order to speak hurtfully), will always lift a burden from the other person and bring freedom, not lay upon them a heavy weight of condemnation.
Let's guard our words in such a way that we speak life to one another!
